Summer is icumen in,

Lhude sing cuccu!  

Groweth sed bloweth med

And springth the wode nu.

Sing cuccu!

 

Awe bleteth after lomb

Lhouth after calve cu,

Bulluc sterteth, buche verteth.

Murie sing cuccu!

Cuccu, cuccu,

Wel singes thu, cuccu.

Ne swik thu naver nu!

  

Sing cuccu nu, Sing cuccu!

Sing cuccu, Sing cuccu nu!

med = meadow

nu = now

awe = ewe

Lhouth = lows

cu = cow

Bulluc = (bull?)

sterteth = leaps up

buche = ?

verteth = snorts

Murie = merry

thu = (you?)

Ne = (never?)

swik = cease
